Romantic Love

What have I done
With my romantic love?
It weighed me down
To the deep depths
Of the lake
That was us
I needed to breathe again
My skin needed to feel the sun
The touch of something innocent
I knew when I was young
I saw you
After so much time
The other day at the traffic light
Mine was green
Yours was red
It felt good to just drive by
You wanted to see me
You wanted to see me
You wanted to see me
Before you go
But I buried that romantic love
Beneath the tombstone
In the deep depths
Of the lake
That was us
Man, how you were mud
Man, how I got stuck
You wanted to see me
You wanted to see me
You wanted to see me
Before you go
But your eyes covered in algae never saw me
They just saw what they wanted to see
Thinking back on love
Romance like kicked-up dust
Man, how you were mud
Man, how I got stuck
As time goes by
Quicker than we'd know
I won't be your checkbox
Your memory of home
You wanted to see me
You wanted to see me
You wanted to see me
Before you go
But this self-respect I've whittled alone
With my bare hands of earth and bone
Has been for me the deepest romance
I have ever known
And I can say my romantic love
Bleeds into each
Thing I touch
Not the kind that pulls me down
But the kind
That lifts me up
And I have breathed again
I have felt the sun
The touch of something age-old
I knew when I was young
You wanted to see me
You wanted to see me
You wanted to see me
But I've seen enough
Of that romantic love

Moonlight
Annabelle Lampson
It’s time to unplug
When all you are is free
And you can taste spirits
In waves of energy
It’s time to hold on
When all you do is let go
And all the light you’ve ever seen
Is matched by shadow
And there’s a ring around the moon tonight
I can see it through the city lights
And I know what it’s for
In moonlight I’m reborn
And I’ve seen your eyes before
They too have beared the storm
It’s time to sing
No confining chains on your soul
It’s time to feel
The springs have been dry for so long
And broken branches built
The foundations of old
But there’s a light in the sky
May it cradle your soul
Yeah there’s a ring around the moon tonight
I can see it through the city lights
And I know what it’s for
In moonlight I’m reborn
And I’ve seen your eyes before
They too have beared the storm
It’s time to trust the sings
How could they be all bright?
And it’s unsettling
To change the things
You’ve tattooed on your skin
But I’ve seen you swim
In the rivers with no ends
And there’s a ring around the moon tonight
I can see it through the city lights
And I know what it’s for
In moonlight I’m reborn
And I’ve seen your eyes before
They too have beared the storm
Life~
Wide sky
The strength of the stars
To be who they are
And I’ve seen their light before
They too have beared the storm

Already Dreaming

Already Dreaming
Annabelle Lampson
There we were watching woodpeckers
On a Saturday afternoon
The clouds were clearing over the valley
And I said hallelujah
A year ago I was taking throne
As a queen of expectation
But the streams do flow
Releasing hold
So many branches snapped letting go
I’ve grown
You’ll find me down in the valley
Breathing into Earth
And when the waters wash us
Bygones be left by the birch
You’ll find me hands filled with berries
Blooming teeming birth
You’ll find me where you’ll find the wild things
Being of the earth
The tales I tell come off my tongue
And I’ve been told to not speak
But I’ve learned some things from the mourning dove
And the people who fight to breathe
In the daylight, I am already dreaming
In the dead of night, I am still singing
You'll find me down in the valley
Breathing into Earth
And when the waters wash us
Bygones be left by the birch
You’ll find me hands stained with berries
Blooming teeming birth
You’ll find me where you’ll find the wild things
Being of the earth
When so many give body and soul
To some flag’s colors
Stay yours, stay yours, stay yours
When so many give body and soul
To some other world
Stay Hers, stay Hers, stay Hers
You’ll find me down in the valley
Breathing into Earth
And when the waters wash us
Bygones be left by the birch
You’ll find me hands filled with berries
Blooming teeming birth
You’ll find me where you’ll find the wild things
Being of the earth
In the daylight, I am already dreaming
In the dead of night, I am still singing

Tragedy

It's a tragedy
These autumn leaves
As they die
They are the most
Beautiful they'll be
It's a tragedy
That shooting star
It'll take your breath away
But leave
The longing in your heart
Honey, don't hold my hand
As I walk away
Some love's just here
Not here to stay
And they wish I would
Blow in the wind
Like a feather could
But I'm not that thin
I've been crumblin'
With the seed of the pine
You'd best believe my sap
Gets sweeter with time
It's a tragedy
These autumn leaves
As they die
They are the most
Beautiful they'll be
It's a tragedy
That shooting star
It'll take your breath away
But leave
The longing in your heart
Honey, come right here
And get so close beside me
If the canyon's cold tonight
I'll love you like lightning
And I once believed
Being struck by heat
Would be the end of me
'Till I became the stream
It's a tragedy
These autumn leaves
As they die
They are the most
Beautiful they'll be
It's a tragedy
That shooting star
It'll take your breath away
But leave
The longing in your heart
How it feels to be so small
Beneath clouds and the treetops
How it feels to touch the ground
Many ways to see
Ways to be
Many ways to sound
How it feels to fall apart
But at dawn, given a new start
Well, the day has come
And I breathe
There is much in life
That we might be
It's a tragedy
These autumn leaves
As they die
They are the most
Beautiful they'll be
It's a tragedy
That shooting star
It'll take your breath away
But leave
The longing in your heart
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
These autumn leaves
As they die
They are the most
Beautiful they'll be
